Seeking Junior High Teacher for Math, Science & Bible Studies (Remote, German-speaking)

We are looking for a dedicated teacher to take on a class as a form tutor and teach mathematics, at least one of the subjects physics or chemistry, and religious education in grades 4 through 11.

Who we are

THS.Homeschooling is a Christian online school for German-speaking families worldwide. Our students learn across countries and time zones in a structured online setting – with the goal of holistically developing knowledge, skills, and character.

Our aim is to renew our generations with courage, faith, and wisdom. The Christian faith is not an add-on, but the center of our work. We work in a Christ-centered manner and understand education as a holistic mission. Therefore, all teaching units at THS.Homeschooling fundamentally have a biblical reference.

Our student numbers are currently growing significantly. In order to continue to offer personal instruction and consciously keep learning groups small, we are starting additional classes in the coming months. Therefore, we are expanding our teaching team.

What we are looking for

Your role at THS.Homeschooling

As a class teacher, you are responsible for a fixed learning group and accompany them throughout the school year. This includes, among other things:

  • Reliable support for students and parents regarding individual learning behavior
  • Communication and coordination within the team (e.g., regarding performance, behavior, development needs)
  • If needed: Parent-teacher conferences for individual students (in coordination with school administration)

In addition, you teach the following subjects in grades 4 through 11:

  • Physics or chemistry (at least one of the two subjects)
  • Bible study

Your responsibilities as part of the teaching assignment include:

  • Weekly Online Class Sessions
  • Lesson preparation
  • Homework check
  • Creation and correction of tests/performance assessments
  • Evaluation and grading of students

The workload is usually around 20-30 hours per week, including lesson preparation and test grading.

Spiritual Foundation

This position requires spiritual maturity and personal integrity.

  • You are a born-again Christian.

  • A binding involvement in a Christian community/congregation is a matter of course for us.

  • You can integrate biblical perspectives into teaching in a suitable, understandable, and age-appropriate way.

What you should bring personally

In addition to professional expertise, we expect reliability, clear communication, and responsible action.

Ideally, you bring:

  • Joy in teaching and in building sustainable relationships with students

  • The ability to structure content clearly, comprehensibly, and in an age-appropriate manner.

  • Reliability and good self-organization

  • Teamwork skills and willingness to coordinate closely with colleagues

  • Carefulness in Language, Feedback, and Correction Work

  • Openness to familiarize yourself with our teaching structure and tools

A university degree is not a requirement. What's important is that you can teach competently, work with sound didactics, and are willing to take on the responsibility of being a class teacher.

What we offer

  • A meaningful task in a Christian school with an international environment

  • Clear framework conditions and structured collaboration within the team

  • Remote work (German-speaking) with reliable planning

  • To design the space, teaching, and learning creatively and practically – within our guidelines

  • Compensation in the range of €7–13 per hour

  • Cooperation takes place within a suitable contractual framework, depending on residency, availability, and individual circumstances, usually on a fee-for-service basis or as an independent contractor.

Practice Work 2: Written Statement (approx. ½ page)

Jesus is talking to a man named Nicodemus, who is a religious leader. Nicodemus comes to Jesus at night because he's curious and wants to know more about him. Jesus tells Nicodemus that to truly be part of God's kingdom, he needs to be "born again." Now, this doesn't mean Nicodemus has to go back into his mother's stomach and be born as a baby! That's what Nicodemus initially misunderstands, and it's okay to be confused by this. When Jesus talks about being "born again," he means a spiritual new beginning. It's like a total reset for your life. It's about changing your heart and your way of thinking so that you want to follow God's ways. It's not about doing specific religious things, but about having a new attitude and a new life that's guided by God's Spirit. Think of it like getting a brand new phone. You can't just update the old one. Sometimes, you need a completely new one to get all the latest features and a fresh start. Being "born again" is a spiritual "new phone" from God, where your old ways of thinking and living are replaced with new ones that are focused on God. It means trusting Jesus and letting his Spirit change you from the inside out, so you start living a life that pleases God.

Craft a brief statement (max. ½ page) on how you would design this class session, including aspects like the introduction, core content, discussion/interaction element, and application.
